McQueen's 2010 Under Water Fashion Odyssey

"Although there was nothing to show McQueen breaking out from his set design mold, the way he's embracing new computer technologies and the drama of the moving image puts him at the leading edge of change."

Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 show was BEAUTIFUL! Mind you, I never have too many bad things to say about McQueen barring the Fall 2009 clown hubcap look, but I do think this season was exceptionally inspirational. The wild snake like video imagery, alien and insect digital prints, and the use of the camera as part of the stage and backdrop made the technology an integral part of the performance. The moving video cameras, which caught the audience as well as the clothes and models, kept my focus and told my eyes where to look next. This heightened experience from the cameras allowed detailed imagery of the clothing to be displayed upon the huge LED screen backdrop and made the cameras seem like characters themselves.
